Position Summary

We are seeking a Project Manager with experience in the management of building design and construction projects. The incumbent will deliver Construction Administration services for both renovation and new construction projects in Connecticut.
This position may support multiple projects concurrently.  These projects may be in more than one location, for example New Haven and Hartford areas. Projects will typically range in construction costs from $2M to $50M.  Our team's role may involve management of all phases of work from site selection, pre-construction planning, budgeting, scheduling, programming, A/E/C team selection, design and construction management, FF&E procurement and installation, equipment planning and move coordination. 
Proven ability to manage high quality projects to on-time, on budget delivery is required.  The incumbent will generally serve as the onsite lead, working directly and independently with clients and project stakeholders.  In addition, he or she will coordinate and direct the efforts of owners' consultants, designers and builders.  The incumbent will also manage priorities and provide day-to-day direction of other project team members.  As such, demonstrated leadership; interpersonal skills; and organizational skills are all key attributes of the incumbent.
The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing and developing reports, meeting minutes, correspondence; invoices, financial spreadsheets; and project schedules.  Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and a working knowledge of scheduling software are also critical selection factors.
Thorough knowledge of materials, methods and techniques used in building construction is required, as is the ability to recognize faulty construction or hazardous conditions.  Experience managing Higher Education, K-12 and Healthcare markets is highly desired.  Knowledge of the Connecticut State Building Code and its related references is desired.

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Construction Management, or Architecture required
  • 5 years of experience as a Project Manager in an Engineering, Architecture, Environmental or Construction organization required or
  • 10 years of experience in a project related technical field required
  • Strong working knowledge of pre-design and pre-construction, building systems/components and technology, contract management, project delivery methods, team building and client relationship building required
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect license/certification preferred
Essential Functions: 
Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
